Hello! Although I am not a McManus, I was drawn to this site when trying to gain information about my name-McGathey. It seems that our kin were married 9-24-1865. They were William McGathey and Rebecca McManus and had nine children. They were Jesse, Mary, Pearle, Asbury, Nora, John, Victoria, Ida Mae, and Sylvester. If anyone is familiar with this line please feel free to respond. Best wishes, Jay McGathey

In 1813 he was licensed to practice law in Kentucky, and in the same year, he served a tour of duty, for six months, in the Kentucky militia, on our northern frontier.--At the expiration of his term, on his way to Kentucky, he stopped with his cousins, the Reed brothers, on Anderson's Fork, where he remained several months. In 1814 he settled in Wilmington, and at the May term, 1814, of the Supreme Court of Ohio, he was licensed to practice law. On August 19, 1819, he was married to Rachel McManis, daughter of Judge George McManis, of Clinton County. In 1819, he was elected a Justice of the Peace, for Union Township, and was reelected for two successive terms of three years each. ---End--- Rachel married Daniel Radcliff(e) about whom the above biography was written. They probably met in Clinton Co., Ohio.
