I am Denis McManus from the McManus Family on the West Side of Manhattan. For New York history of McManus' from over 100 years ago go to www.mcmanusdemocrats.com.
On Nataliesnet I am listed as a researcher (helped with 1/1000 of her work, if that much) I have recently acquired the location of Jesse and Leonora McManus during the 1850 Census with their first five children: John, Rebecca, Susannah, Ellen and James. They were in the 1850 U.S. Census Pennsylvania, Clarion County, Piney Township, Page 150. (Roll M432___767, if you have access to US Census microfilm) Those researching the line may discover other leads that have not been explored. Hopefully you will share with the rest of us.
The same researcher (with a new E-mail address for corresponding) that is mentioned on Nataliesnet. For the record the research I have provided amounts to about 1/1000 (if that much) of what Natalie has done. For those researchers in the John>Jesse/Leonora line I found enumerated 25 Sep 1850 in the U.S. Census, Pennsylvania, Clarion County, Piney Township, Page 150 (Roll M432__767, if you have access to microfiche) the following: Jessie McManis, age 28, laborer; Leonora, age 27; John, age 8, attending school; Rebecca, age 6, attending school; Susannah, age 5; Ellen, age 2; and James, age (less than a year). Again those of you researching this opens up another area of research. Good Luck and I hope you share the results.
McManis descendant from Vinton Co., Ohio Anxious to hear from relatives. Thank you. Dorothy Morgan!!
I am trying to learn more of Charles McMannis (AKA: McManus, McMannus). I was working with his remains in a dig caused by a new library being built. Holding these daily for a semester I grew to be vitally interested in Charles and his family. After the trail where his remains were used in the prosecution he was buried and forgotten it seems. No record of any family looking for him or any notice by the military to his family seems to have been sent. He is buried with the other disinterred from 1999 when the library was begun. It is marked as people lost from history and they are buried together in North Star Cemetery in Saint Cloud. I would love to find his family so they may know of his location. And I would like to know more of him. His birth date (all I have is a year on his second enlistment. And his home town) I got his parents names from his civil war enlistment when he was either 15 or 16 years old. His father and four others named McMannis from his town had all enlisted the year before in the 98th NY.

My Great Grandfather's name is James McMannis and his significant other (wife?) name was Lucinda. He is listed in the roles of the Pennsylvania 63rd Infantry, Company H during the Civil War and as having been in Washington, DC sometime between l861 and 1865. They had 12 children one of which was my grandfather, George Washington MacMannis.
My great grandfather bought part of the land owned by R.O.W. McManus in 1872. I've been researching the land titles. If you want copies of Mcmanus's San Jacinto service records, go to the Texas State Library and refer to the Areas of General Interest. Go to the link "Claims Against The Republic" and type in R.O.W. McManus. You'll find several letters from him, stating that he was in "Deaf" Smith's Spy Company.
Looking for relatives of William McManus. He was born in Pittsfield, Mass. The son of Edward McManus. He had a sister Elanor McManus who was a court clerk. My email is Branagan945-at-juno.Com

I am doing research on Charles McMannis of Malone, NY 1846-1869. Civil War Veteran & Indian Wars veteran who was murdered in St. Cloud 1869.
You have a really neat web page ... lots of info ... lots of McManuses. I'm at a stand still with my research. My Grandfather John Francis McManus was born in Streator, Ill. in 1893. His father Terrence McManus died in 1895 when John (married Ernstine Kelly) was 2 years old and John's sister Margaret (married Jack McCusker) was 4 years old and his baby sister Nell (married Arndorfer) was quite small. Terrence McManus was married to Brigid Higgins. Terrence died, Brigid who then lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin married a fellow named ___?____ Regan. They had 7 more children. Have no other information on our McManus heritage but would like to know more.
I am seeking information on James Alexander McManus, b.1859 Chesterfield County., SC. I believe our ancestors came via Pennsylvania. The above married Mary Rollings, b. Nov 1869, NC. They had 5 children: William Rustin, b.1895,SC; Delia, b.1898; Robert Houston, b.1905, Nezzie, and Rhetta. Both James and Mary are buried in White Plains Baptist Church, Jefferson, Chesterfield County, SC. Also, anecdotal history states that his 2 uncles (or 2 male siblings) left for Texas sometime after the Civil war. We do not know the names of James parents or siblings. Will gladly correspond to solve this mystery.
I am a grand-daughter of James and Sarah Jane McManis. Would like to hear from any relatives out there. Dorothy!!!
I have been looking for information about my Grandfather
PATRICK JOSEPH MCMANUS, born in County Cork, Ireland, who died in St. Louis, MO.
sometime between 1900 - 1911. Patrick Joseph McManus married Margart McKeyring,
born in Washington, DC. They married sometime in 1880's, had children James
Martin McManus b1889, Leo Joseph McManus b1890, Mary McManus, Arthur McManus,
and Catherine McManus. Catherine married twice, first to Promsey then to Hoffman
maybe (Huffman). Catherine McManus has one daughter, Delores Promsey, who
married in the 1950's and has at least 3 children. Delores has a degree from the
University of Kansas. I have not seen Delores since 1959 and do not remember her
married name, however, she was living in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. Delores
should be 71 + years of age. My name is LEO JOSEPH PATRICK MCMANUS, born in
Fresno, Ca December 8, 1936 the son of Leo Joseph McManus b1890 - d1951 interred
at the National Cemetery, Brentwood (LA), Ca. as he was a WW1 Veteran.
My name is Colin McManus, born in Belfast, Ireland in 1945, now living in California. I don't know the names of any relatives living in the US 200 years ago but I'm sure there were some. Our family branch seemed to be concentrated in the North-West of Ireland, in Sligo and Donegal, so they would most likely have come from there. I'm glad to see so many of our family had the foresight to invest their lives in the USA while it was still so young. Their stories are fascinating reading.
I am searching for any history of my great grandfather, Patrick McManus. He was from Chillicothe, Ohio. He was probably born between 1850 and 1870. He married Sarah Roberts, from Virginia. My grandfather was Thomas McManus from Alton, Illinois. Born about 1900. His brothers and sister included Jay, Oz, Floyd, Pearl, James, Frank and others. Name: Wayne McMeins My third great-grandfather, Andrew McMeins was born in MD in 1844. His father was John (info from bible). Andrew married Ann Wilson of MD. They sold their farm in Franklin Co. PA to Applegate in 1768, then they moved to KY. He & son James, were in the Rev War at Fort Jefferson, KY. Andrew died, and his son James died about 1835 in Jefferson County, MO. I think their name may have been spelled McManus at one point.
Hello, I have family records going back to 1800 in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. I guess they may be related to the people in West Pennsylvania. Best Regards, Chris.
I am the grand daughter of Gerald and Ruth McMannis. I know nothing about my family history at all and I was wondering if anyone would know anything. Thank you.
