My gggrandmother was Susanna McManis, b. 26 Mar 1820 in PA. She married Freeborn Belt in Knox Co., OH on 7 Jan 1847. According to her death certificate, her parents were George McManis and Susanna Lenhart, both born in PA. Am looking for this family Sharon.
I am descended from Charles McManis, who fought in the American Revolution and migrated from western Pennsylvania to Brown County, Ohio around the beginning of the 19th Century. I have a great deal of genealogical information about this branch of the McManis family, but would like to discover links with other branches and also trace the family back to the British Isles. I believe the family originally hailed from what is now Northern Ireland.
Very nice maps, I don't know if we are related, I do have a lot of relatives on the frontier or western Pa in the late 1700s including Judge John Moor, John Mauridge Snowden (mayor of Pittsburgh), George Remaley, Jr., John Rudolph Hoffer, Michael Shoop, John Elliott, Samuel Mills Trimble, Thomas Orr, John Duncan, John Criss or Christ. If you can help me find anyone please write back Thank You.
My son in CO passed this site along to me as he knows I am researching McManus in AL & GA. You have everything organized nicely and really enjoyed viewing it. BUT didn't find any connections. Will submit a query at a later time. Thanks for sharing.
My great-grandfather is Fredirick McMannis he is from Ohio His two sons are Earl McMannis Sr. and Charles McMannis. If you have any information on Fredrick McMannis please feel free to e-mail. Thank you, Sandy.
Looking through to see if anyone had any Manis that settled in Indiana. I am researching on my fathers family. His name was Emerson John Manis. He was born in 1923 and died in 1967. Your site is really great and a lot of help to us inexperienced geneaologist. Keep up the good work. Linda Manis Shaw
I was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. If I might be able to add any information, contact me. Charles T. McManus
Looking for any information regarding my great grand father (Lyman P. McManus) born about 1888 in Marietta OH. My father says that he ran away to join the circus about 1896 but this may be inflated family lore. In any case the next several generations were from Louisanna. Any info that might shed some light on this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Love the site great job to all involved!! Thanks.
My grandfathers name is Dale L. McMannis. He lives in AZ.
I am a descendant of John A. McManus. I have been researching my ancestry for a year now and I am interested in knowing more.
