Woody saw a post that I made to Vinton Co., Ohio regarding an address request. At the bottom of my post I listed all the surnames that I am researching. He just contacted me asking what Woodruff's were I looking for. Jonah Woodruff was a very difficult brick wall. I just could not get past him. It turned out the Jonah was his gggg great uncle and sent me info and told me to come to his webpage for additional information. A BIG thank you to all of you that have done such a great job. He had a daughter, Esther, who was born in 1734; married Benjamin Fitzrandolph, and died in 1761. I am assuming she lived in New Jersey since Benjamin was from there and their daughter Phebe was born there in 1775. After the Revolutionary War, Benjmain was one of the first settlers in Hamilton, Ohio. There, Phebe met Celadon Summes, nephew of John Cleves Symmes. They married and moved to Fairfield, Ohio. Their daughter, Esther Woodruff Symmes, married William Noble Hunter, their son, Celadon was my great-great-grandfather. CommentsI like your site. Do you have any information on Lt. If you are interested I could obituaries from my home town newspaper, because she died 19 January 1899 in Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas. Their daughter, Lucy Almarine England married Martin Anthony Chandler and moved to Fayette, AL. After her second husband died, Nancy Woodruff England Jackson moved to Fayette, AL where her two daughters were living with their husbands. He married Sarah Hogbin in Holmes Co., OH in 1832 and they subsequently relocated (1st) to Athens Co., OH and (2nd) Jackson Twp. Jackson Co. OH, where they lived until their deaths in 1890. I have never been able to determine who Alexander's parents were. His first son was named Eleazer which I thought might be a good clue but have turned up nothing.
