SurnamesWOODRUFF, Chase, Cottrill FamilyHaviland Chase is in my family line. My mother's mother was a Cottrill. I can trace the Chase family back to 1460 in Buckingham shire England. CommentsWell Done.
SurnamesWOODRUFF, Arnold FamilyI am one of Arnold Woodruff's (b. 1900) grandsons. He and grandma, nee Ruth Bond, lived in Upper Arlington, OH from early 1950's to their deaths about one year apart in mid-1970s. They had three sons: Oldest was my father, Arnold Bond, who died in Sycamore, Illinois in 1995, was a professor at Northern Illinois University; second was Kenneth Pierce, still living in Columbus, Ohio, retired from the construction business; and Jack Woodruff, still living in Upper Arlington, who was choir director and assistant football coach at Upper Arlington High School. I have five siblings and are hatching new generations of Woodruffs.

SurnamesWOODRUFF, MARTIN, PICKERELL, OURS, MITCHELL, LAW FamilyMy great-grandfather, John Martin, married Isabella Woodruff, daughter of John Woodruff and Dorothy (Dolly) Smith in Meigs County, Ohio in 1858. I have records of land purchase by John & Isabella from Dorothy Law. Do you have any information about either the Martin's or the Smith's? CommentsI feel as if I have found a gold mine!! This ties all of the Woodruff-Law questions together for me. Your documentation is incredibly valuable to me as I was unable to find family ties to Isabella when I was in Pomeroy last summer and did not have time to search land records.

SurnamesWOODRUFF, FamilyWe are descendents from Pickett Woodruff...most of us residing in Ohio and Arizona. CommentsLove your web site! I can really appreciate the work that has gone into it. When we had our annual family reunion in PA, they were thrilled to look at it. Thank you so much!
SurnamesWOODRUFF, FamilyThe Woodruffs in our line came to the Hamptons on Long Island about 1639 - then to Elizabeth City, New Jersey - then to Ann Arbor, Michigan. From the linage in the book called Woodruff Chronicles - it seems our line is also related to Benjamin. The ancestor I am most familiar with is Samuel Woodruff who is a great grandfather. Andrew Noland is doing research in the Woodruff line and has an e-mail address which I shall see if he wants to pass along. My husband and I are planning on a trip to Woodruff, New Jersey - are you familiar with it? Regards - Shirley Guglielmo
CommentsHappy to have found it! Thank you
SurnamesWOODRUFF, Black, Starr FamilyWe seem to be related to John Woodroffe m. Elizabeth Cartwright-> John Woodruffe, the younger, m. Hannah Newton->Joseph Woodruff m. Hannah Ward->Isaac Woodruff->David Woodruff m. Sabra Clark -> Jesse Clark Woodruff m. Rebecca Wilson->George Washington Woodruff b. 1817-> Irvin James Woodruff b.1861 -> George Wilson Woodruff b. 1891. This is my husband's grandfather. Our George Washington Woodruff seems to be the first of our line to come to OH. They bought land in Richfield, Summit Co. Ohio and farmed there. We currently live in a rural community not far from the old family area. I am a beginner in the search. Having retired from 31 yrs. of teaching, I find that I have the time to spend doing more of the research. So I am trying to do my lineage and my husband's, as well. We would love to hear of any ties that we may have with the rest of you.
