FamilyMy family is from the Tarrytown area in New York (Sleepy Hollow). My Father and Grandfather are of course also John LeGay Woodruff's. My Grandfather's father was Amos Woodruff, who died in his forties. My grandfather was born in 1898. He presumably had several siblings, the only one I know of is Harrison Woodruff. Amos Woodruff's father was also, I think, Amos Woodruff and family history is that he owned the construction company that built the Cooper Union in NYC. Many years ago I saw a family genealogy that took us back to Hudson River Valley settlers in the 1600's, but neither I nor my father have been able to find it recently. If I find it I will be happy to share any info I have.

SurnamesWOODRUFF, Nehemiah, Joseph and Abiel FamilyI had been looking for my family's ancestor for several years and in the past few months have came across a great many leads, the main being this past weekend on the the family site at mormon.com, where they have traced my direct ancestors back to Fordwich, Kent, England. I discovered this by entering Joseph Woodruff and his spouse's name, Rhoda Young. My father Howard Woodruff's family came from Shambough, Iowa. From the Page County, Iowa bibliography records, I was able to trace our family back to Nehemiah Woodruff (Howard's great-father), who was born in Ohio and whose father, Joseph Woodruff, was born in New Jersey and moved to Pennsylvania. CommentsVery excellent site, but did not see any Woodruffs from my family on your site.
